A photography scavenger hunt that connects photographers around the world.
It all started with a donation goal.
It was my very first 24hr stream on Twitch and I was trying to come up with some enticing donation goals for support. I thought, “I need to put something on the line that is near and dear to my heart…then the light bulb flicked on - what about my hair?”

As you probably guessed, the community ended up hitting the donation goal and I had to put my money where my mouth is. Here’s a little video I put together that captured this moment:
We set a date and made an event out of the haircut. We cut the man bun off, live on Twitch, and the community was both in shock/jubilant that the man bun was gone…or was it?
The night before the cutting, I had a crazy, wonderful idea…
Why not turn this into a scavenger hunt? Leading up to the cutting, the community jokingly asked for me to send them my hair so that they could interact with stream-lore. I felt that was cute, but kind of pointless. What if we instead came up with a scavenger hunt list that would require the man bun to be in every shot?

…and “The Great Man Bun Scavenger Hunt” was born!
Here’s the breakdown of the journey:

The Man Bun was heat-sealed and packaged together with a Travel Journal to record the experience of each participant’s story during the scavenger hunt.
On February 5th, 2022…the Man Bun finally came home.
It took the Man Bun more than 25,000 miles, 14 months, and 14 days to finally return home!
The Man Bun was able to collect a lot of goodies and gifts along the way as each participant passed along gifts to each other.
